The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
